Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. In the last few months, there has been a lot of negative news of people dying due to a new wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. There was fear, anxiety, and hopelessness among many people in my circles. We had to quickly find new hope in this hopeless situation because our hearts were beginning to get sick!
You may be going through a different hopeless situation. Maybe it is with your marriage, your business, at work, your kids, poor health, or whatever is making you feel hopeless.
In this article, I share how to find new hope in hopeless situations so that your heart does not get sick and you enjoy life through a longing fulfilled.

Find one thing to motivate you
Feeling hopeless can make us give up on many things. Therefore, it is best to find that one thing to motivate you to keep fear and anxiety at bay and build new hope slowly.
My motivator is the desire to see and play with my grandkids. For me, this means that I must take care of my heart and overall health so that hopefully, I can live longer to realize my dream.
In the same way, find that one thing that will motivate you to stay above even in hopeless situations. It could be to live long to see your grandkids—like me, to provide a better lifestyle for your family, achieve your goals, dreams, fulfill your commitments, e.t.c.
Something else to motivate you is how much you have already invested: time, energy, and money. Focus on your motivator, and you will find new hope.

Praise and worship
There is power in singing praise and worship songs. There are plenty of these on YouTube, in case you don’t know where to get them. When you praise and worship, your attention moves from the hopeless situation to the all-powerful God, who loves you and cares for you despite all that is happening.
All things work for the good of those who love God. It helps to trust that God has got good thoughts of you. Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Remember that God knows everything from the beginning to the end, and He cares for you. He will provide you with new hope in whatever hopeless situation you face. You will know that whatever happens, God has your back.
Even though God has got good plans for us, we have an enemy who has come to kill, steal and destroy. He wants to take as many people as he can down with him, to fight you and bring you problems.
Prayer helps to fight off those hopeless situations and gives us new hope. After all, God’s will is that we might have life abundantly and not have sick hearts, fear, and anxiety.
Besides, God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Prayer activates this power that will provide you with new hope.
Take it a day at a time
When the hopelessness tries to overwhelm you, take it one day at a time. Even better, take it one hour at a time. Then, keep moving, even if it means just crawling under the weight of hopelessness.
Do not give up because every dark cloud has got a silver lining, and this too shall pass at the appointed time. The important thing is not to let it destroy you.
Instead, find something positive that will keep your mind engaged and destructed from the hopeless situation while moving to a more hopeful position.

Change your environment
Go to a place that helps you relax, clear your mind and rejuvenate. You don’t have to spend lots of money or any money at all on this. Allow yourself to do something fun to distress and build new hope.
Even a simple thing like getting out of the house to the balcony, verandah, or compound can make you feel better in amazing ways.
In addition to finding a different place to help build your hope, you may also need to move away from people and areas with negative energy. Instead, spend more time in positive environments with positive people or listening to encouraging podcasts and messages.

Talk to someone
Share your hopeless situation with someone that you trust. Hopefully, this person will encourage you to hang in there and hope for the best. They may even have a solution or know someone or something that could help. But even if they don’t, it is good enough for them to sit and listen.
Sharing a burden will make you feel better because somehow, the heaviness will feel lighter. If you keep everything bottled inside you, those emotions could overwhelm you and make you continue to feel hopeless.
A problem shared is a problem half solved, and you shouldn’t think that you are a burden to them. If you have shared it with the right person, you will find that new hope begins to grow inside you.
In life, you will meet hopeless situations, but these don’t have to destroy you. Instead, there are ways to find new hope. In this article, we share some of these, including realizing your motivator, praise and worship, praying, taking it a day at a time, changing your environment, and sharing your hopelessness with someone you trust.
